Matt Wilson – the lovable Aussie tradie, with a quick wit and impressive six pack to match! While he is most recognisable as the lovable Aaron Brennan on cult Australian soap show Neighbours, Matt was originally a carpenter in Sydney before relocating to Melbourne for the acting role and has not looked back.
Not just a pretty face, Matt is a talented presenter/actor who has graced Australian screens since 2010, scoring roles on Getaway American Road Trip in 2010 and the 2011 Logie Award winning series of Underbelly: The Golden Mile. Most recently, Matt the move to Ramsay Street, making quite the racy entrance to the Neighbours cast from June 2015.
Prior to his success on Neighbours and in the acting industry, Matt worked in construction for eight years after school, establishing himself as a successful sole trader.
With determination like no other and a knack for beating a cast of thousands at everything he puts his mind to, Matt’s credentials are impressive, to say the least!
In 2010 he was crowned as Australia’s Hottest Tradie, which saw him successfully navigate multiple live radio and television interviews, as well as an appearance on the National IQ Test the same year. Matt also appeared in a 9to5 Magazine cover and fashion shoot.
In 2011, Matt named one of Cleo magazine’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors. This saw him set off on a two week trip to find Australia’s Newest Hottest Tradie, co-hosting six events around the country with crowds in excess of 500 people.
To celebrate 30 years of Diet Coke in 2013, the brand conducted an extensive Australia-wide search for an Aussie hunk to represent Diet Coke locally, with Matt successfully beating thousands of people to take the title.
From 2009 to 2015, Matt was the international face of Australian underwear brand AussieBum. This huge campaign has seen him feature in seven international campaigns and participating in excess of 25 photo shoots as well as various online videos and television appearances.
The past few years have been a huge period for Matt career wise, with his success going from strength to strength. He continues with his regular role on Neighbours, while often frequenting events in both Melbourne as Sydney, cementing him in both cities social circles.
At the end of 2016, Matt undertook a solo camping trip around Australia, spending 6 weeks exploring the untouched landscape in his 4WD, generating fantastic content across his social media channels.
2017 saw Matt shoot a digital campaign for department store powerhouse Myer, become an ambassador for Mazda, work with global company Cadbury and made the top 50 of Cleo magazine’s annual competition Bachelor of the Year.
A North Western Sydney local, Matt is an energetic, adrenalin junkie who loves wakeboarding, snowboarding, motocross and is currently learning to surf. His passion for travel combined with his commitment to becoming an established TV presenter and actor puts him in an echelon of his own. An Aussie larrikin with a charismatic personality, Matt is one to watch.
